A first year Bachelor of Laws and Business student, hailing from Serbia, is currently facing criticism after his visa was called into question.
Nolan Dordevic (18) is a favourite for this year’s LLB101 and LLB102 tutorial fixtures and was excited to make his way through the weeks of content. That is until he was stopped at the Brisbane International Airport upon his arrival several days ago.
Mr Dordevic had this to say: “I was really confused, the Business and Law Faculty told me I could enter the country, even if I’d recently contracted a Griffith letter of acceptance.”
With confirmation he’d received such a letter on 16 December 2021, Mr Dordevic was worried, but relied on the information given to him by the uni. This was stifled by the Australian Border Force’s hard-nosed approach to Griff-TAFE affiliates.
The controversy was inflamed by the first year’s apparent refusal to admit he’d received the letter. “It was one lousy early entry offer. It’s no one else’s business which uni offered me a spot.”
Mr Dordevic has claimed he’ll fight the stance taken by the ABF and aims to be on campus by the Feb 28 start date.
No one tell the poor sod it’ll probably be Zoom uni by then.
