The usually peaceful (but dreadfully anxious) scene of Gardens Point campus was rocked to its core today as QUT Law Society president Harry Jans once again (for the second semester in a row) swapped his studies for a skateboard in a daring display of aerial acrobatics atop of P Block.

The seasoned skateboarder, often seen delving into the intricacies of jurisprudence and the law society office fridge decided it was high time to instead delve into gravity defying skating stunts.

“Yeah, a McTwist off P block should be pretty easy”, said the law society president/cult leader look-alike.

The president took to the skies, breaking free from the shackles of student society bureaucracy and maybe a couple of University health and safety regulations.

With a perfect ollie, he shot off the roof of P block before performing a McTwist, a trick rarely seen done off the ivory towers of academia. The Tony Hawk special trick sound blasted through campus with an earth-shattering shockwave.

The disbelieving crowd below, faces used to the dull pallor of library lighting, were suddenly alight with joy and laughter, their exam-induced despair momentarily forgotten.

“The world is a beautiful place and I am no longer afraid for the future”, QUTLS secretary Harry Bass stated, wiping away tears.

The McTwist seemed to twist the very fabric of reality, turning gloom into glee with a flick of a skateboard. Completing his inhuman feat, Mr Jans landed the trick perfectly to many cheers and screams. The high-flying president, when asked why he keeps risking life and limb for the student body, merely shrugged.

“Just trying to lighten the mood before exams. Mental healths is important and stuff brah.”

He then rode off into the sunset through oncoming George St traffic, being comically chased by QUT security.

It was certainly a (Mc)twist that left the QUT student body grinning, the worries of exams momentarily replaced by the joy of watching Mr Jans defy gravity and common sense.

I hope to God there’s more to come. Did we mention he’s in a band too?
