It’s a thrill that first and second years will never know. It’s February 2nd 12:00pm. You’re at work and frantically refreshing your personal laptop, doing everything in your power to be first off the block when the online floodgates open. Swifty tickets? No. QUT Class Registration. Or at least it was until 2024, when QUT decided to move away from the first-in-best-dressed hunger games model of choosing classes to the more “equitable” preference process. The one which has somehow given me the worst class times physically possible this Semester.
While the university veterans reminisce of the old dog eat dog model they complained endlessly about at the time, a new opportunity to get the survival of the fittest adrenaline rush has arisen. This year’s Law Ball.
First release tickets went on sale at 4:00pm on Thursday the 4th of April and were immediately hoovered up by hordes of party hungry students.
“Yeah it was pretty crazy” Jen Nericfirstyear told this masthead. “I logged in at 4:06pm and they were already completely gone. Guess Law Ball’s so back this year?”.
If you were like Jen and just missed out all other tickets release on Friday 11 April at 4:00pm.
More to come.
