It’s mid sem. There’s bugger all to report to be honest. If you’re not neck deep in the throes of a soul-sucking assignment right now, you’ve just finished one and are catching up on the last 4 weeks of content. Who’s actually taking a break this week? Maybe I’m just projecting. Regardless, this article is more or less a PSA from your friendly neighborhood George Street Journal.

Let me take you somewhere. You’ve just finished your assignment. Finally it’s time divert your attention to the bottom left corner of your crusty Word doc and check your word count. It’s supposed to be 2500. You’re at 3168. Sugar Honey Ice Tea. But don’t just give it a once over. Don’t cut 500 words of potential marks. Heed my warning. Click on it. Open that menu.

See that cute little box?

“include textboxes, footnotes and endnotes”

Why is it turned on by default?

Normally at this point in the article I would include an interview with a fictional character. But this is a real tragedy that real students suffer through every semester. Even I have made it within 48 hours of due date before a smartass reminds me to uncheck that box.

Fuck you Microsoft Word. GSJ out.
